The Church

When we look closely at the state of the Church today, we find a great deal of confusion on what it means to be spiritual. Some believe that being spiritual is to pray more than other. Some believe that to be spiritual is to be able to quote the Bible, while others base spirituality on church attendance. Although all of these are necessary, they do not make one spiritual. Actually, to be spiritual means nothing without considering it's counterpart "carnality". Unfortunately, many that profess to be spiritual are not spiritual at all. Carnality causes us to do desperate things when faced with adversity, leaving in it's wake many casualties. The word "carnal" means "fleshly". To be spiritually, first of all, is recognizing that you are a spirit. You are not the body that you live in. The body is flesh, but you are a spirit just as your heavenly Father is a Spirit(John 4:24). We must never be moved by what we are feelings, but we must place our confidence squarely on the promises and direction of God through His word and stand firm until the event is resolved. Never considering the negative outcome that brings with it fear and doubt. Instead, as 2 Corinthians 10:5(AMP), tells us; "casting down worst-case-scenarios and every professional opinion that exalts itself against what God knows (and is true), bringing those thoughts into captivity and making them subject to Christ (and His anointed)." More...
