When was the last time you sang to me?

Amos 5:21-24 (Message)

"I can't stand your religious meetings.
I'm fed up with your conferences and conventions.
I want nothing to do with your religion projects,
   your pretentious slogans and goals.
I'm sick of your fund-raising schemes,
your public relations and image making.
I've had all I can take of your noisy ego-music.
When was the last time you sang to me?
Do you know what I want?
   I want justice—oceans of it.
I want fairness—rivers of it.
   That's what I want. That's all I want.”

Wow! Can you imagine how God feels when it comes to our hearts and what he desires from us? This scripture allowed me to see today’s church on how we perceive God when it comes to our worship! Sometimes as worship leader we tend to focus on the new fad of music and what’s working for other churches. What’s new, what’s the song of the season or what’s Israel Houghton doing now! God created us in the likeness of Him and I believe that we are to be creative. Too many times we are too dependent on the resources of the internet and sources that help pick out songs for the service. Yes, it’s nice to have the resources to help get new material and ideas for new songs, but I believe God is telling us is to activate the creativity in us to write and spend time with Him. When was the last time you spent time with HIM to find out what HE wants?
